Information system for Refugees and displaced persons of Armenia

Political processes taking place in the Region necessitate the development of an information system for refugees and internally displaced persons in Armenia. The main purpose of GoA is to integrate such persons in the society and proper registration of social and living conditions of refugees is of major importance.

The Agency for Refugees and Displaced persons at GoA has commissioned the development of such a system which will register living, financial, social conditions of refugees and based on that to define necessary measures for assistance, its type and volume. Data collection is carried out nation-wide for individual refugees, households consisting only of refugees or mixed type.

Data base and Hardware/Software used in the system

• The system is developed by client/server technology
• Minimal Hardware/Software necessary for the system:
• PC Pentium 200 MHz and higher
• Windows 98, NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5 and higher)
• 16 Mb RAM for the Client and 32/64 Mb RAM for the Server
• 2.1 GB HDD for installation of software
• CD-ROM for installation of software.

Main functions of the system

The system carries out continuous registration and update of information about refugees and displaced persons. The following information is needed for proper organization of activities aimed at solving existing problems.

• address of residence
• type of ownership of residence
• type of residence
• citizenship and registration
• availability of a plot
• number of absent members of a household
• next of kin in household
• social groups
• employment
• education

These data are reflected in a refugee form in a standardized way. Data exchange with other databases for cross-checking and control is possible.

The system has possibilities for analyses and reports necessary for statistical purposes and integral evaluation of the situation.
